I spent months working 12 hours sanding floors, and taking wallpaper down with the baby on my back and the others crawling in the playpen. Ha! All was starting to form, but it wasn't quite finished. It would take an enormous amount of effort and shopping my favorite furnishings for this house. To keep the budget in check, I started going to estate sales with three sons to find gems hidden in the dirt. It was a weekly tradition that we would stroll through garage and estate sales on Fridays and Saturdays buying a mixture of new and old pieces. I then spent working on my projects outside in our driveway. It was kind of similar to this... This is the place where my passion for restoring antique furniture started. After our home was fully furnished, I could not quit! Markets in town had room for me to sell pieces. I eventually had lots of pieces, I didn't think of a solution and outgrew the space. There were open houses in my home which saw over 1 000 guests would come through in one weekend, and purchase whatever they saw in the first floor. Growing Days was founded in my own home. Not only was my business thriving but I was growing our sweet family as well. In a way, I had found the perfect equilibrium between motherhood and launching my venture. Growing Days just fit. My daughter Nora became our fourth child. It was a great direction for my business, but I also needed a vacation. I took some time away from vintage furniture to spend some quality time with my children. The time was right. The phone rang again after some time. People contacted me asking for help with the interior design and renovations of their home. A majority of those calling me were people who had visited my home at one of my furniture open houses. The time flew by before I was managing a full-scale business for home improvement. It began with taking clients on one at a pace that I was confident in. It would have probably made me laugh if I had told you that it would be the foundation of a DIY Network tv series. It's true that I laugh when I think about the idea.
