April Lockhart

April Lockhart (born July 4, 1995) started her journey in music at the age of 7 when she took guitar and piano classes. In April, when she was 12 years old when she wrote her first single Different. At 14, April spent much time writing songs and honed her musicianship skills. Soon, April began taking trips in NY and LA together with her father so that they could both write songs. April began including other topics in the book, Take My Hand, for her friends who were dealing in the face of peer pressure, disability or even suicide. Lockhart is also gaining a growing fan base as a lifestyle blogger as well as a spokesperson for the popular Clean Beauty company Ilia. She was born with no left hand. This makes her unique. However, this isn't the only aspect that makes her unique. Lockhart's profile on Instagram doesn't hide her disability but doesn't concentrate solely on the issue. What's the message? The message? We each contain multitudes, that our identity and physical selves are not all that appear. Lockhart talks through video from Nashville. "I don't wish for it to dictate my life. I don't want to be only known as a disability expert. The issue doesn't affect my everyday activities. I go about my business as usual and have developed my own methods to adjust. She admits that she's been through phases of her body and sometimes feeling insecure to wear certain types of clothing which showed the arms of her. Nowadays, she dresses what she's comfortable in and post pictures of herself in these outfits on social media, she is proud of herself. Self-love, she says is a journey. It's not clear whether you'll get to the end. This is true for everyone, regardless of their insecurity. It's important to be around those who are able to know the person you are.
